This is a pretty cool example of using Turbo.net VM’s for embedding a SQL Lab environment within a web page or blog post. I went through this article on the Turbo.net site: https://blog.turbo.net/creating-sql-test-lab-environments/

It was really simple to try out. I tried it out using the example in the article and I created my own pretty lame example by creating my own Database and sql script. You can try it out too by signing up to Turbo.net and following the article.

The proof is in the pudding, here’s what I created:

Conclusion

This is pretty cool. As a ‘Desktop guy’, I struggled for a long time to realize the value of containers. With all of the buzz around Docker, I could see the use for developers but I couldn’t see the wider appeal. Having the ability to build lab environments, such as the one in this article and then embed into a site has huge potential. I believe it’s a pretty large paradigm shift for application virtualization that brings it to a wider audience.
