Citrix XenApp

Thanks to my friend, Brian Stevens for sharing this and allowing me to post it for everybody’s benefit!

The Issue:

Launching result in the above error. Citrix HDX Engine has stopped working.

Solution:

Note the default printer. It will have a green check mark on it under Devices and Printers. You will also want to note the print server this printer is on. I masked my print server in the screenshot but you should see yours when in this window.

You’ll want to go Applications within your Event Viewer logs. Look for an error that occurred at the time you got the Citrix HDX has stopped working error. Note the path listed in the detail for faulting module path like above.

Go to the path and rename that file with .old or whatever you prefer.

When your computer has restarted, you’ll want to do the following:

  1. In Devices and Printers remove the default printer.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Browse to the print server that you noted earlier, using Windows Explorer and install the printer again.

You’ll notice the fresh install recreated the DLL. Now you should be able to launch without errors.
