Get Your Ass to E2EVC

If you frequent this website that means you probably work in the same industry as me and work with the same type of products. This also means you’d be right at home attending E2EVC which is the Experts to Experts Virtualization Conference.

I attended my first E2EVC a few years ago in Los Angeles. My boss at the time encouraged me to go and had suggested it was the most technical conference that I could hope to attend. He was right!

Not only is it technical but it’s also really laid back and cool. There’s a great sense of camaraderie. I have now attended multiple E2EVC conferences and I have to say, I have never heard somebody bitching about a session. Everybody is supportive. You don’t go to a session and hear people trying to hi-jack somebody’s time slot or trying to assert their own opinion at inappropriate times. There’s no Alpha bullshit involved. In fact there’s the opposite. When presenting at the event, I have had people chime in after I say something in order to validate what I said. It’s just a group of great people with a common interest sharing their insight. Sessions are interactive and fun.

We had a great time this year! My favorite addition is the CTP panel that was presented by Warren Simonsson. Here’s a quick teaser that I heavily edited…I couldn’t upload a full video because people were being very HONEST and it wouldn’t be fair to post when they may not have been aware it was being recorded. But that honesty also makes this conference so great. It’s not a vendor event, there’s no PR machine at play. The sponsors do not dictate the flow or direction. In fact the sponsors own sessions are technical and less salesy than you might expect. It’s by the community for the community!

The presenter of the conference award will have to go to Jim Moyle and the incredibly charismatic Pink Vegas Monkey. Jim had to improvise at the last minute when he realized his co-presenter would not make it to the session. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Pink Vegas Monkey!

I had the pleasure of presenting a session on managing applications in Windows using application virtualization, containers, layering and more. I tried to fit an awful lot into a short session and feel I didn’t do my best but those in attendance seemed to enjoy it.

Over a few beers in the evening during the Vegas event, one of my fellow attendees had suggested that his favorite part of going to these events is the fact you get to meet people from all over the world. It truly is humbling and incredible to see nationality, race, gender etc. is irrelevant, everybody is united by a common interest and conversation just flows.

I have had the pleasure of attending many different conferences during my career. I will go on record and say that E2EVC is my absolute favorite. It’s not even close! If you have a training budget make sure you put E2EVC on your list. It’s not only the best conference I have been to, it’s also the most affordable. In fact, this year for Vegas and Dublin, I went out of my own pocket to attend. That’s how much I love it. I can’t wait until I get the chance to go again.

They run multiple conferences a year. So check out https://www.e2evc.com for more information!

Great work by Alex, Clare and and everybody involved in the conference. Keep up the great work! See you down the road!
